The Real Estate Advocacy Group for States (REAGS) is a coalition of real estate and professional trade associations that have an interest in government relations at the state level. A recognized source of information about the real estate industry for state and local policymakers, REAGS provides education, information and support on legislative matters.

BOMA

Founded in 1907, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International is an international federation of more than 90 local associations and affiliated organizations.  BOMA’s 19,000-plus members own or manage more than nine billion square feet of commercial properties in North America and abroad.  The mission of BOMA International is to enhance the human, intellectual and physical assets of the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, education, research, standards and information.

Founded in 1957, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is the global trade association of the shopping center industry. Its 60,000 members in the United States, Canada and more than 80 other countries include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals as well as academics and public officials. As the global industry trade association, ICSC links with more than 25 national and regional shopping center councils throughout the world. Last year, shopping-center-inclined retail accounted for $2 trillion in sales and produced more than $115 billion in sales tax revenue.

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) is the national association representing the real estate finance industry, an industry that employs more than 500,000 people in virtually every community in the country.  Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the association works to ensure the continued strength of the nation's residential and commercial real estate markets, to expand homeownership and extend access to affordable housing to all Americans.  MBA promotes fair and ethical lending practices and fosters professional excellence among real estate finance employees through a wide range of educational programs and a variety of publications.  Its membership of more than 3,000 companies includes all elements of real estate finance: mortgage companies, mortgage brokers, commercial banks, thrifts, Wall Street conduits, life insurance companies and others in the mortgage lending field.

Based in Alexandria, Va., the National Apartment Association (NAA) is America's leading advocate for quality rental housing.  NAA is a federation representing 191 state and local affiliated associations with more than 51,000 members responsible for more than 6.1 million apartment homes nationwide.  Since its inception in 1939, NAA has become the largest broad-based organization dedicated solely to rental housing.  NAA members include apartment owners, management executives, developers, builders, investors, property managers, leasing consultants, maintenance personnel, suppliers and related business professionals throughout the United States and Canada.

Based in Washington, D.C., the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) is a national association representing the interests of the larger and most prominent apartment firms in the U.S.  NMHC's members are the principal officers of firms engaged in all aspects of the apartment industry, including ownership, development, management and financing. NMHC advocates on behalf of rental housing, conducts apartment-related research, encourages the exchange of strategic business information and promotes the desirability of apartment living. Nearly one-third of Americans rent their housing and almost 15 percent live in an apartment.
